We have some really big news! J. Becher & Associates has been awarded the 2020 NECA Project Excellence Award for our Dorothy Day Center project, as well as our 10,000 sq. ft home project in Medina. NECA recognizes the outstanding work, professionalism, and ingenuity of NECA member contractors nationwide, and it is an honor to be a NECA Project Excellence Award winner for 2020.
The NECA Project Excellence Awards were created by the National Electrical Contractors Association to recognize electrical contractors who have done remarkable work during the previous calendar year. NECA honors contractors performing work across different market sectors for their commitment, professionalism, and ingenuity in delivering an electrical project. Members of NECA’s Business Development Task Force judge the projects that were submitted by firms based on aesthetics, application, difficulty, innovation, and originality. Below are our featured projects that were awarded Project Excellence for 2020!
The residents of this home rely on an ELAN system for easy control of the lighting, security, audio, video, climate and more in their 10,000 square-foot Minnesota home. From setting the pool temperature to dimming the lights in the kitchen to unlocking the front gate, the family can do everything with the touch of their finger.
Check out the pictures of this beautiful and unique smart space below, you won't be disappointed!
When your dream home has more than 100 light switches, 12 TVs and 48 zones of audio, the only way to effectively manage it all is with a full home control system. It would be incredibly stressful to try running a home this large without modern technology or full-time help, and even communication could be difficult without an intercom system. These particular homeowners were familiar with the ELAN system from their previous home, so in the new one, our focus was maximizing simplicity and functionality without damaging the aesthetics.
A major benefit of the ELAN Home Control System is that it allows all core equipment to be centralized, which helps declutter living spaces and eliminates the need for visually intrusive electronics. The owners are utilizing nearly every capability of the system, so they have control of the home’s TVs, music, lighting, heating and cooling, motorized window shades, security, surveillance, garage door access, and pool controls.
This couple wanted all the latest home technologies but didn’t want their beautiful home to end up looking like a Big Box retailer. Since they decided to renovate before moving in, we were able to run all new wiring in the walls and use a single location for all of the amplifiers, cable boxes, thermostats and lighting control modules. Now the only visible technologies in the home are the TVs and remotes, light switch panels, and multiple 12-inch ELAN touch screens that blend seamlessly in with the home design.
The most important feature of any home control system is that it is simple to use and functions reliably, every day, otherwise, people get frustrated quickly and begin to doubt the usefulness of the very tech that is supposed to make life easier. Our extensive experience designing and installing these systems for homes of all sizes has shown that doing it right the first time is the only way to build trust and appreciation, and ELAN helps us do that.
Security integration was key as well, with an alarm system, ELAN surveillance camera system, garage door control, driveway gate control, and front door intercom camera providing 360-degree coverage, all monitored through the ELAN system and app for easy viewing and control.
Managing this huge home is about as simple as it could possibly be, thanks to our design and integration of the ELAN Home Control System. Looking to the future, the owners can add almost any new technology because ELAN is designed to be future-proof and is continuously updated for compatibility with the latest consumer technologies. In the end, it has simplified every tech interaction and activity in the home and given the owners the freedom to enjoy their time without worrying whether something will work or not.
We are thrilled to be a part of this great project alongside Watson-Forsberg and Catholic Charities of Saint Paul and Minneapolis! Dorothy Day Place, a new 6-story building in the heart of downtown St. Paul, is intended to replace the Dorothy Day Center- an emergency shelter that provides people in need with a dignified, safe place to call home.
The new multi-use 177 unit facility, will provide meals, shelter, career assistance and other programs to help those struggling to get back on their feet. When finished, the facility will be the largest public-private housing and social services partnership in the state’s history.
J. Becher will be wiring the 6-story 177-unit facility that includes a dental clinic, medical clinic, sleeping quarters, classrooms, a large cafeteria, tenant space, and much more!
Congratulations to all our fabulous hard-working employees that worked on these projects! You are amazing!
